Warm, Fuzzy Baby HeadsWarm, Fuzzy Baby Heads

My wife sat in the rocking chair in my office, holding our youngest daughter. We had been chatting while I worked, but now she stopped and slowly rubbed her face across our little three-month-old’s fuzzy, adorable head.

“What are you doing?” I asked smiling.

“Mmm... I just love baby heads,” she said. “Don’t you?”

Is there anything quite as wonderful as the soft hair of a newborn? Is there anything softer than new skin? Can there be a more delightful smell than a clean baby? Is there any pull more irresistible than wanting, no needing, to kiss a baby on the head? Their warm, fuzzy heads make us feel warm and fuzzy on the inside.

    Praise God for baby heads!

...and all the other parts, too, of course.

Feet, toes, tummy, arms, and plump little hands and fingers... what delights! What treasures!

Praise God for baby heads!
Maybe since she’s our last baby, we’re noticing things like this more often; treasuring the little gifts that come with a newborn even more than usual. Her first smiles, her first laughs, her first victorious rollover. Praise God for her firsts! Praise God for her victories!

It won’t be long until this time is gone in a blur. For now, we soak it in, not wanting to miss a minute of it. As the kids get older, we find that the warm fuzzies are a little harder to come by. Parenting starts to involve tough choices and tears. But even then, at the right time, in the right way, they come. A gift, a drawing, a smile or a hug. Little graces given that are just as sweet and soft as a baby’s hair.

Praise God for the blessings of babies! Praise Him for the trials of toddlers, and the challenges of children. And praise Him for the warm, fuzzy, wonderful feeling of connection and love that flows between parent and child.
