“Thank you God for the moon!”

    “What did you say?” You’re probably wondering.

    Simple! I’m out in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico far away from home. As the sun set on this cloudless night, the moon came up this beautiful fiery orange the indigo blue waters, at nearly at full moon stage. We didn’t need lights to see because the moon was so bright.

    The moon has been there longer than we have been on our tiny blue planet. Millions have looked and marveled at its beauty. Lovers have been romantic and many a proposal for marriage has been made under the moonlight. Soldiers going off to war have been told countless times, “Look up at the moon and remember we are seeing at home and think of you!” Our oceans are alive — not just birds, animals, and fishes — as the moon keeps it stirred and non-stagnant as its gravitation pull pulls the tides.

God holds them in place by his powerful word and loving and providential care for us.

    However, I’m not trying to go lunar on you today! The moon is one of thousands upon thousands of blessings that God pours into our hearts every day. We often don’t notice them because they have always been there — we just come to expect. Yet God holds them in place by his powerful word and loving and providential care for us.

    With just a few days till Thanksgiving, I’m sure you’re going to give thanks for big huge blessings like family, friends, faith... In addition to those, however, let’s make a special point these next few days to thank God for the moon, the thousands of other blessings that are there to bless us simply because God loves and wants us to know him.
