A Few Good Words
by Joseph Magellan
Some people make cutting remarks, but the words of the wise bring healing. (Proverbs 12:18) I heard the sweetest sound today. It was sweeter than birds singing, wind chimes tinkling, or music playing. It was so beautiful that it instantly made my face smile, my heart sing, and my spirit soar to Heaven. It was my littlest child saying, I love you. You know there is nothing like a few good words to make your day and remake your life. Words are such a glorious gift from God.
It is a shame then that we do not use more good words in our lives.
Mark Twain used to say that he could go for days on a good compliment. It feels so good too when we use our words to build others up rather than tearing them down. It feels so wonderful to share a few honest words of praise. It feels so fantastic to let another person know that they are loved, admired, and cared for. If you truly want to change your life for the better then make two lists of words. On the first put all the negative words you hear all the time like: hate, hurt, no, cannot, pain, destroy, and those I cannot even mention here. On the second list put every positive word you can think of like: joy, love, light, delight, peace, happiness, goodness, kindness, fantastic, wonderful, good, great, glorious, and do not forget yes. Then throw away the first list and always use the second. You will be amazed at the miracle that will take place. You will be in awe of the joy, love, peace, and happiness that will flow into your life. You will be filled with wonder at how God, yourself, and a few good words can bring a bit of Heaven down to Earth.
