Who Is Keeping Track?
by Thomas R. Fletcher For God is not unjust as to forget your work and the love which you have shown toward His name, in having ministered and in still ministering to the saints. (Hebrews 6:10 NASB) I like to see results. If I work at something, I want to see progress. If I dont, Im tempted to quit, or at least to change my methods. I think we all face such temptation. We want to know that what we are doing matters. We like to have our work recognized from time to time. People may forget the good we have done. At times, others may take credit for our work. The good news is that we have One watching over us that will never forget. He always gives proper credit. God keeps perfect records. If I am tempted to quit or move on, I need to look to the Lord. I need to get His perspective. Does He want me to move on or bear with it and keep working where I am? I look at the temporal, God sees the eternal.
And I heard a voice from heaven saying, Write this down: Blessed are those who die in the Lord from now on. Yes, says the Spirit, they are blessed indeed, for they will rest from all their toils and trials; for their good deeds follow them! (Revelation 14:13) Prayer: Lord, please reveal to me my true motivation. Am I really doing it for you, or is it thinly disguised selfish ambition? Purify my heart so that I may serve you with wholehearted devotion and trust that you will do what is right and gracious with me and my efforts to honor you. In the name of Jesus I pray. Amen.
