I'm Thankful for His Coming
by Jeff A. Jenkins One of the great privileges of my life is co-hosting a weekly television program with a dear friend. As a part of the program we answer Bible questions phoned in by viewers. We receive a number of excellent questions every week. Recently a woman named Connie called and said to one of our operators that she would like to talk to a minister. She requested that the minister come to her. She is in a nursing home. Today my co-host and I met about some upcoming programs, and I said lets go visit this lady and see whats on her mind. We walked into her room and introduced ourselves, and she acted as if she was shocked. She began to say over and over again, I cant believe that you would actually come to see me. She informed us that she watches the program faithfully and wouldnt miss it for anything. She then said again, I cant believe that you came to see me.
As we left Connie, I couldnt help but be reminded that we were all infected with a disease much worse than cancer (Romans 10:9-10). And that one much greater than any of us made Himself of no reputation ... coming in the likeness of men ... humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. (Philippians 2:7-8) He did that for you and me. May God help me to be as grateful for His coming as Connie was for mine!
