“Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.” Genesis 9:16 (NIV)

    When I was a child, my father used to point out rainbows and say, “See? God still hasn’t flooded the earth again.” Having heard the story of Noah’s ark innumerable times, I knew the sign of the rainbow is one way God reminds us of his promises.

God wants us to remember the ways he has worked in our lives.

    As I have grown older, I have learned to look for other signs of God’s reminders. The endless rhythm of crashing waves reminds me of his goodness that is never-changing. A vibrant tulip poking through recently thawed soil is a sign of God’s faithfulness through even the coldest winters. Each sunrise reminds me of God’s light that shatters all darkness. My own daughter is a constant reminder that God sustained both of us through my difficult pregnancy.

    And then there are reminders from God that I haven’t even noticed yet. God wants us to remember the ways he has worked in our lives. What reminders is he showing you today?

God, thank you for your promises. You are ever faithful. In Jesus’ name, amen.
