    The great elder statesman Winston Churchill once valiantly proclaimed, “Never Give Up!”

    The story is told of a spry lady who lived in a retirement home. She spotted an older and very distinguished gentleman who was a new face in her surroundings. Obviously a new resident, she promptly sat down in front of him and attempted to get his attention with warm smiles. She saw a husband in the making.

“You look like my third husband...”

    Growing uncomfortable, he asked, “May I help you?” She shot back, “You look like my third husband. The wave of your hair, your countenance, the strong hands.”

    Now very uncomfortable, he said, “Now, Ma’am, how many times did you say you have been married?” She smiled and said, “Twice”.

    Never give up hope. Another woman by the name of Hannah never gave up hope of a son. She was a devout woman of courage and faith. When the priest approached her to question what she was doing, she replied, “I have poured out my soul before the Lord.” Because of her hope and dependence on the Lord, He favored her with the birth of a son, Samuel.

    Maybe today you are troubled, distressed, discouraged, and downcast. Let’s not give up, but pour our soul’s needs out before the Lord.
