If you’re like Thomas à Kempis, a Christian writer in the fifteenth century, you may feel better about your faith in God when you first began to believe at the beginning of your spiritual walk than later on.

Seems in reverse, doesn’t it? But as we walk with Jesus, we may see our failures clearer as we go along. And we begin to feel the weight of those failures greater as we go than we did at first, because we want so much to be perfect.

We must not let that desire for perfection weigh our hearts down. Only one — Jesus Christ — was able to be perfect! And while we may not see our growth and maturity, the power of God is working in those who believe all of the time.

He loves us, no matter where we are in our spiritual walk.
